Foods to Encourage 

A health and nutrition education program for those who are diabetic, pre-diabetic or those with high blood pressure. 

What is the Foods to Encourage (F2E) Program?

The Falmouth Service Center, in partnership with Cape Cod Cooperative Extension and Barnstable County Public Health Nurses, is looking at how nutrition and healthy food favorably impacts common medical conditions such as High Blood Pressure (Hypertension) and Diabetes.  

When is the Program available?

The program is open every Thursday, throughout the year, from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Falmouth Service Center.

Who can enroll in the Program?

The program is open to those individuals who are currently diabetic or pre-diabetic or who have high blood pressure.  They can be from the Upper Cape and can stop by to enroll on any Thursday.  

What are the features of the program?

The "Foods to Encourage" program is open to all who are at risk for hypertension, have hypertension or are at risk for diabetes or have diabetes.

Individuals who enroll in the weekly program have their blood pressure and/or blood sugar tested by Barnstable County Nurses.  There is complete confidentiality for every participant. 

The individual is provided a bag of fresh fruits and vegetables each week, free of charge. There are healthy food recipes, free food samples and nutrition ideas available weekly.
