Fuel Assistance Program

The Fuel Assistance Program ended on April 30, 2014. The Falmouth Service Center is not taking any applications at this time. It typically begins again on November 1 and FSC Volunteers usually begin helping clients during the week after the Columbus Day holiday.

The Falmouth Service Center is a Volunteer Agency that processes fuel assistance applications for the South Shore Community Action Council (SSCAC). SSCAC is a local administering agency for the Massachusetts Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). The Massachusetts LIHEAP program is intended to provide assistance to those low-income households that are the most vulnerable to the high home heating costs many face in the New England area. 

How do I apply for fuel assistance?

Fuel assistance applications are filled out at the local level and then sent to the SSCAC for processing. The program usually begins on November 1 and runs until April 30 each year. Once your application is approved, both you and your primary heating company (vendor) receive a written notification from SSCAC indicating the amount you have been approved for. This amount is not guaranteed, but is based upon funding availability.
