Fuel Assistance Program
The Fuel Assistance Program ended on April 30, 2013. The Falmouth Service Center is not taking any applications at this time. It typically begins again on November 1 and FSC Volunteers usually begin helping clients during the week after the Columbus Day holiday.
The Falmouth Service Center is a Volunteer Agency that processes fuel assistance applications for the South Shore Community Action Council (SSCAC). SSCAC is a local administering agency for the Massachusetts Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). The Massachusetts LIHEAP program is intended to provide assistance to those low-income households that are the most vulnerable to the high home heating costs many face in the New England area.
How do I apply for fuel assistance?
Fuel assistance applications are filled out at the local level and then sent to the SSCAC for processing. The program usually begins on November 1 and runs until April 30 each year. Once your application is approved, both you and your primary heating company (vendor) receive a written notification from SSCAC indicating the amount you have been approved for. This amount is not guaranteed, but is based upon funding availability.
Falmouth Service Center volunteers help clients fill out fuel assistance applications. Please check back in late September/early October to request an appointment online or call us at 508-548-2794.
