History of the Falmouth Service Center

The Falmouth Service Center (FSC) is a non-profit agency which has been working hand and hand with the community to support and improve the lives of families and individuals in need in the Falmouth area for over two decades.  In 1983 the Service Center opened with little storage space, starting in an unused classroom in an elementary school, moving 4 times in 20 years.  In April 2002 the Service Center moved into its first permanent building that is owned and operated by the corporation.  From the start the community has been supportive of the Service Center.  Individuals, schools, organizations, and the faith community give about $300,000 in financial contributions, and $200,000 worth of food annually.

A major component of our program is our food pantry which residents may visit once every twenty one days.  In addition, financial assistance is provided in emergency situations for needs related to housing and utilities.  Clients are as diverse as are their needs.

As we approach our 25th year we are growing in size and structure.  We facilitate fuel assistance and food stamp applications, deliver food to the home bound, have a clothing room, prepare meals in a kitchen which are frozen and distributed, and act as a referral resource for any needs our clients present.

With 300 plus volunteers, the campus is truly a place where Falmouth residents can be of service, and in turn, can come if they are in need of service.
