Financial Assistance Program

It is through the generosity of our donors, that the Falmouth Service Center was able to provide over $216,000 in financial assistance, in the first 8 months of this year, to Falmouth families struggling to pay their rent or mortgage, electric and heat bills.

A critical piece of our financial assistance program is learning about and accessing additional resources to ease the financial burden. Clients are encouraged to visit the FSC food pantry, which can really help them save on their family’s food costs. In addition, clients are offered support to apply for programs such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), the Fuel Assistance program and MassHealth. Our financial assistance program is an important facet of the services that FSC provides to our community.

A young mother recently reached out to us during a particularly challenging time. As the sole provider for her family, which included a newborn and 4th grader, Anne found herself faced with awaiting payments for her much needed medical leave while trying to pay her bills.“ My circumstances that led to (requesting) help was giving birth to a new baby. I had been going back and forth with PFML and was waiting for a payment for going on the second month and was getting behind not only on rent but all my other bills as well. The bill I was concerned with was my rent.” Due to the financial assistance from FSC, she said “I was able to get my rent paid and spend what money I did have on the necessities for my two children until my payments came in. FSC was able to assist and actually was generous enough to pay (my rent) in full!”

I am very against taking from others… I don’t like asking for help and will only do so when my back is against the wall and I have no other options. I cannot thank FSC enough for this help, it literally saved my life as a single mom to two kids.

This is just one of many stories we hear from our Falmouth families navigating financial challenges. We couldn’t provide this support without the generosity of our donors, volunteers and community partners. Together we make a difference for our neighbors that are struggling to provide the basic needs for themselves and their families.
