Community Partnerships in Action
New Partnership with Dignity Matters
FSC is excited to announce a partnership with Dignity Matters, a Massachusetts-based nonprofit organization working to alleviate Period Poverty by providing free underwear, bras and menstrual products to disadvantaged individuals. They envision a community where all women and schoolgirls are treated with respect and can manage their periods with dignity and without shame. Falmouth Service Center will receive donations of menstrual products each quarter and hope to expand with underwear and bras in the coming year. This year FSC has already received 6,400 products, enough to assist 320 women.
FSC & FHA Collaborate on Mobile Markets
This summer, the Falmouth Service Center partnered with the Falmouth Housing Authority (FHA) to bring an assortment of pantry items and fresh produce directly to four low-income housing complexes. This outreach program provided 114 households with 2,130 pounds of food and offered staff and volunteers the opportunity to share news and updates from the Service Center. Approximately half of those receiving groceries were current clients; a quarter had been clients in the past, and a quarter were individuals who were not familiar with FSC or the services available to them. With the successful completion of 10 markets, reaching 116 individuals over the course of 3 months, we celebrate the success of this pilot program.
