Quick Bites: Fall 2025
FSC Falmouth Road Race Team raises over $75,000
Our 2025 Falmouth Road Race Team of 38 runners, a mix of seasoned FRR runners and many new ones, raised over $75,000! “Each year we are thrilled with the number of people who want to be part of our team!”, exclaimed Kerin Delaney, FSC Executive Director. “This team worked hard for many months to physically train for this race and raise funds for FSC. Their efforts will directly help our neighbors who are currently facing food insecurity.”
This year’s runners were: Robert Andwood, Kathleen Boudreau, Benjamin Bourne, Trish Bourne, Tony Bowen, Kevin Burchill, Libby Burchill, Tori Colautti, Jamie Comeau, Summer Confuorto, Abbie Dolan, Isabelle Driscoll, Luke Finnigan, Sean Foley, Abby Gordon, Michaela Hannigan, Jon Hare, Mike Hare, Benjamin Houghton, Catie Jokela, Brooks Jones, Jennelle Liljestrand, Jim Liljestrand, Maggie Madigan, Molly Madigan, Thomas Madigan, Olivia Manning, Catie Murphy, Hailey Murphy, Katrena Niemisto, Gwen Ream, Jonathan Rouner, Lauren Stocks, and Bill Walker. We are so grateful to this amazing team for all they did to raise money and awareness of our work in the community.
Fresh Start Program a Huge Success Thanks to our Generous Community
Thanks to the generosity of so many in our community, we were able to provide over 300 backpacks to local children. We had our largest number of clients register for the program this year: 151 families with 245 children. These children received a brand-new backpack, school supplies and a gift card for new clothes at TJMaxx or Wal-Mart, depending on their choice. For a second year in a row, Comcast donated brand new Chromebooks to each newly enrolled family, 86 this year! This way families have the same computer that their children are using at school and can access all of the school resources and information which is now all digital.
As part of the program, FSC provides backpacks to each school in Falmouth to have on hand for the first day of school and to military families at Joint Base Cape Cod. This year we also participated in the new Back to School Bash hosted by the Falmouth Recreation Department where we were able to distribute additional backpacks. We are grateful for all the volunteers who work tirelessly all summer to make this program a huge success.
Scholarship Award Recipient
We are pleased to share with you the recipient of the FSC Community Services Scholarship in honor of Brenda Swain: Falmouth High School 2025 graduate, Nolan Clements.
“Being awarded the Scholarship was a great honor. It means a lot to me because like Brenda, I value helping others when they need it most. My Grandfather, Ted Clements, utilized the Falmouth Service Center on a regular basis. I have been involved with Eagle Scout projects around the Service Center in the past. In the fall, I am attending the University of Oklahoma with plans to study meteorology. Please know I am extremely grateful for your organization’s generosity.”
Volunteer Night Out at the Falmouth Commodores
For the second season in a row, we filled the stadium bleachers with volunteers, staff, board members, family, and friends, representing all 17 of our programs, for our annual ‘Volunteer Night Out’ at a local Falmouth Commodores Baseball Game. It was an opportunity to share old and new friendships, enjoy pizza, and laugh.
The 2025 event was EXTRA special because unbeknownst to the attendees, our very own high school volunteer, Lorenzo, was awarded the Chuck Sturtevant Outstanding Service Award scholarship by the Falmouth Commodores and Cape Cod Baseball League. When Lorenzo’s name was announced on the loudspeaker, a roaring round of applause and cheer followed in celebration. Congratulations to Lorenzo! The night out was more than a chance to have fun, it was also a moment to pause and say ‘thank you’ to our volunteers in a special way.
