Expanding to Meet the Needs of Our Neighbors

On November 1, 2024, we ceremoniously broke ground on our building expansion. In just three months, the new space was weather-tight and looking great! Fast forward to today and it has just been completed. The construction team worked hard to finish the project in just 10 months and volunteers have helped us to prep the rooms with shelving, racks, bins, signage, and other furniture needs to function in both the clothing and meeting rooms.

We are thrilled to announce that we opened our new FSC Community Closet on September 22nd!

It was an interesting experience maintaining our normal food distribution schedule while also being an active construction zone for ten months. We are so grateful for our amazing team of volunteers and clients who stayed flexible during this time as we kept changing how we operated based on what sections of the building and/or parking lot were unsafe due to construction work.

New front entrance to the main building and the new free clothing room. The stone patio will be used by community partners for information tables and for providing additional food items like locally grown fresh produce.

The new processing room and the new clothing and housewares room. The processing room will be used by volunteers to sort through clothing and housewares and prepare them to then be set up in the clothing room. Clients of our food pantry will be able to “shop” for what they need at no cost.
